Midwest Burners' Afterburn Party · October 13-14 · Ozark Avalon · Boonville, MO

HullabalU, held in the Fall, is Midwest Burners’ official Afterburn party to decompress from Burning Man and the outdoor burn season. HullabalU is also a kind of birthday for our group as the first one in 2003 was Midwest Burners’ very first annual gathering.

HullabalU is a time for relaxation and reminiscence! There is no main burn organized by the association, although anyone is welcome to bring burnable art. Some folks set up very scaled down versions of their theme camps, various people organize activities, show off their art, and teach new skills, and everyone camps and hangs out together. Despite the general vibe of relaxation, we appreciate any complex projects or camps that ambitious artists may bring. HullabalU is very DIY.

HullalbalU has always been a one night event because a more extended shindig requires a lot more time and energy. Remember, we’re trying to relax at this gathering! So you can arrive and camp on Friday, but HullabalU doesn't officially start until Saturday morning.

Members And Guests

You must be a member of Midwest Burners Association or a guest of a member to participate in this gathering. Members may bring as many as seven (7) guests. A member MUST be present at HullabalU if his or her guests attend this gathering. It is the member’s responsibility to host his or her guests.

Sometimes logistics keep groups from arriving together and that is okay. When each person presents his or her government issued ID at the gate, the Greeters will check this information against our records. The Greeters will use the name on your ID to verify that you are a member of Midwest Burners. When guests arrive before their hosts, they will need to tell the Greeters the name of the member hosting them.

The latest a person may apply for membership before HullabalU 2007 is Midnight October 11, 2006. Membership applications received after this date will be processed after HullabalU 2007. Please visit our membership page for information on joining Midwest Burners.

A member’s spouse is also considered a member, regardless of whether the spouse applied for membership. A girlfriend, boyfriend, or fiance is not a spouse. The main reason we let spouses of members be de-facto members is because we're taking advantage of something the IRS allows in their rules for our type of organization. If you're considered married by the IRS, then you would be for our purposes.

What To Expect At The HullabalU Gate

Official HullabalU gate registration begins Saturday morning at 9 AM. Each person arriving at HullabalU will need to have some form of Government issued identification.

Ozark Avalon will be collecting a $10.00 per person camping fee for the entire weekend. They will give you your first wristband once you have paid the camp fee. You will get a different wristband from Midwest Burners to show that you’ve signed into HullabalU. This 2nd wristband will indicate whether you are of drinking age or not.

If you arrive on Friday for some early camping, you'll need to come sign-in at the gate on Saturday morning. Please come sign-in and get your second wristband even if you have already paid your campground fee to Ozark Avalon on Friday.

You will have completed the gate marathon when you’ve received TWO wristbands: One to show you’ve paid Ozark Avalon and one to show you’ve met the rambunctious HullabalU Greeters.

Once you’re settled in, consider taking a Greeter shift to welcome later arrivals. The party is always at the Greeter Station!

Age Restrictions

Anyone under 18 years of age may not become a member of Midwest Burners. Children 14 to 17 years old may attend HullabalU with a parent or legally appointed guardian.

In order to establish, at the front gate, that you are a child’s "Legally Appointed Guardian" you must produce a court order or similar legal documents stamped by the clerk of a valid court of law. Parents do not have to produce these legal documents.

Children under 14 years of age may not attend HullabalU, even with a parent or legally appointed guardian. We have this restriction because of Missouri nudity laws.

Front Gate - In And Out

When you arrive at HullabalU’s front gate Greeter Station you will be reminded by the Greeters that once you sign in and enter the campground, you cannot leave and then return later. This policy is for everyone's security. Make sure you have everything you need to camp for the duration of your stay when you arrive.
