The Float
Everyone who wants to go on the float will gather on-site at Center Camp between 10:00 & 11:00 AM on Saturday. During this time, we'll be checking that everyone has a lifejacket, a wristband, and a float or boat.
This hour before the float, we'll also be organizing transport vehicles to get everyone from the event site to the drop-off point. Please let us know on-site if you are willing to use your vehicle as a transport vehicle. We'll also need some vehicles left at the campsite to take drivers back to the drop-in point to get their vehicles after the float.
We will be leaving the event site at 11:00 AM sharp to drive to the drop-in point. It's best to not get up at the last minute or you'll be driving yourself to the drop-in point.
Capt. TLC has a trailer to transport your floatation devices. He also has an air compressor to air them up at the drop-in point. For those with canoes and boats, you are responsible for getting them to the drop-in point with your vehicles.
The drop-in point is 3.8 miles upstream from the event site and we'll float back down to the event site.
Float Notes
You'll want to bring a cooler for drinks and tie the cooler to your vessel. Do NOT bring glass bottles - they break and make the river dangerous to swim in. Also, pack a lunch and bring snacks. Sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray, old shoes or water socks for swimming, a swimsuit, toilet paper in a ziploc bag, and a towel will round out your essential float gear. You may also want to bring a shade hat since it gets hot on the river.
The Gasconade River is unique because it is mostly surrounded by private property. DO NOT venture up out of the riverbed until we arrive back at the event site.
