Camping Area

Unlike at InterFuse, the camping area is centrally located near the house. The camping area will be easy to spot when you arrive. A Center Camp structure will be located in the middle of the camping area to serve as a community gathering point.

Camp Placement

Burnin’ Down The River is a first come, first camp event. Areas cannot be reserved in advance and we’re not doing camp placements. This means you can camp wherever you want in the camping area provided the space isn't already occupied.

Bathroom Facilities

There will be a porta potty on-site. There is now also a bank of 4 outdoor showers! Depending on whether Capt. TLC has the time, there may be hot water via a solar heated tank!

Capt. TLC asks that you only use organic soap and shampoo in the showers so you don't pollute his ground water.

Parents are responsible for their children. Please be aware of this area designated for public nudity.

Electricity

If you want power at your camp, you’ll have to generate it yourself. However, Capt. TLC does have a generator and air compressor for airing up rafts and floats.

Tents And Structures

Most of us will simply bring tents for this relaxed event. But again, you’re welcome to set up whatever structures you prefer, such as domes, yurts, and parachute shade structures.

Some Basic Safety Guidelines For All Structures

  • Cover all exposed tent stakes and rebar with something more friendly, like rubber balls. Exposed stakes are a primary cause of accidents.
  • Mark your strings, wires, and guylines so people don't trip. Brightly colored tape and glow tape are ideal for this.
  • Collect or mark things so that people won't trip over them at night.
  • Keep paths and walkways clear.
  • Be sure your tiki torches are planted in solid ground.
  • Add lights to your structure so people can see it. The Missouri Ozarks are very dark at night.

Food and Drink

There is no vending at Burnin’ Down The River except for ice. So, you must bring all of the food and drink you’ll need for the entire event. Self-sufficiency folks!!

You’ll need to bring all of the drinking water you’ll need for the weekend as well. We recommend 2 gallons of water per person per day for drinking and camp washing water. It will be hot in Mid-July and you’ll want to stay hydrated!

If you’re going on the Float, you’ll want to pack a lunch, beverages, and snacks to take along. It works to put food in coolers with handles that you can tie to your canoe in case it capsizes. People with inflatable rafts can put their food coolers in Capt TLC’s canoe and kayak. Remember to bring a smaller cooler for beverages on the river. Smaller coolers are easier to bring along on inflatable rafts and your food ice won’t melt if you have a separate beverage cooler. Do NOT bring glass bottles on the Float. No one wants a cut foot while swimming in the river.

There is a BBQ Pot Luck being planned for Saturday night after the Float. If you would like to participate, bring some food or make some food on-site to contribute. Capt TLC asks that you bring side dishes that compliment a bbq brisket.

BBQs and personal campfires are allowed but there is a large communal fire pit and large barbeque grill already onsite. There is plenty of wood so no need to bring firewood.

Garbage And Leave No Trace

Burnin’ Down The River is a Leave No Trace event. There will be no public garbage containers provided. Come prepared with trash bags to haul away the remains of what you brought.
