Who & What Are They?

Midwest Burners is a Burning Man inspired social and recreational association. While we do have formal membership and comply with IRS requirements for 501(c)(7) tax exemption, we try to keep the bureaucracy and formalities to a minimum. We’re pretty laid back and want to focus on enjoying each other’s creativity.

Founded by Zay in 2003, Midwest Burners progressed from hosting parties and social outings to much larger annual events like HullabalU (our AfterBurn Party) and InterFuse (our Midwest Regional Burn in the Missouri Ozarks). In January 2005, we adopted our Articles of Association, which documents our purpose and intentions. In June 2006, the IRS recognized us as a 501(c)(7) tax exempt social and recreational association.

This website serves as a base to grow the Midwest Burners community, distribute group information and facilitate our events, but the real center of activity is the Midwest Burners Yahoo Group.

Becoming a member of Midwest Burners is easy and free, with no geographic restrictions.
