The Main Event
At the heart of many Regional Burns is a giant sculpture (sometimes called "The Man"), which is set on fire at the height of the event.
The Television (stage/effigy)
At the center of this year’s technological cacophony will sit that most loved and most hated icon of modern technology, that mighty conduit of modern culture, that unmatched propaganda and marketing tool, THE TELEVISION! The TV will be large enough to serve as an open performance stage and projection screen.
The diagram is a view of the front of the TV as if you are watching television. The TV will sit off the ground on a 6 foot tall platform. The screen area of the TV will be an open space so you can see inside of the box. The inside of the TV will be a performance stage area that is 8 feet tall by 8 feet deep by 10 feet long. The panel area with the dials will be a wooden panel. The area inside the TV that is behind this panel area will serve as sort of a back-stage area.
The effigy will be closed off at 4:00 PM on Saturday so the Ignition Crew can prepare it for the burn. All art, messages, decorations, mini-effigies, etc., must be piled around the effigy by this time.
How YOU Can Participate: Create Primo Programming
We will be filling our giant television with our own content. All participants are invited to create Premier Entertainment Programming and clever personal advertising to display on our TV. There must be NO dead air time!
You may use the TV stage at any time during InterFuse. However, certain Prime Time periods will have schedules coordinated by Stage Managers. If you want to use the TV during Prime Time, you’ll need to coordinate with the Stage Managers to reserve a time slot.
In the default world, programming is organized by the most lucrative programs. In the Burner world, programming is organized by creativity and collaboration. Preference for better time slots will be given to content you’ve created. But you are welcome to project movies on the TV. Likewise, coordinating with the Stage Managers BEFORE InterFuse will get you better time slots than approaching them for the first time at the event. If you experience spontaneous or last minute inspiration, don't be shy about approaching the Stage Managers at InterFuse. The TV is there for everyone to use.
A schedule will be posted at the TV so you can find available free times.
Stage Managers will be located at the TV DURING InterFuse.
You can also coordinate with the Stage Managers BEFORE InterFuse by writing the Event Planners. Please include your name, content name, a brief description, length of time needed, and preferred date and time.
InterFuse needs multiple Stage Managers. For details and to volunteer, check out the Volunteer page.
Prime Time periods
Non-Prime Time periods are unstructured and the TV is open for everyone to spontaneously use.
How YOU Can Participate: Help Adorn The TV
The TV still needs your style ideas. For example, it would be cool to cut designs in the side of the TV that symbolize the senses and perceptions TV caters to. Also it would be rad to have someone design a metal symbol of integration that we can place inside the TV during the pre-burn procession.

How YOU Can Participate: Build A Mini-Effigy
Our modern society churns out tons of STUFF! So, around the giant television will be piles of personal technology sculptures created by YOU. Bring an effigy of your favorite techno-fetish that you fantasize about burning. Does your cell phone drive you crazy? Build a larger than life cell phone with non-toxic materials like wood, cardboard, paper, or cloth. You could give your effigy evil teeth or put something in the screen to express its annoying qualities.
NO BURNING ACTUAL PLASTIC TECH DEVICES!
Put your art on the pile around the TV and watch it all BURN on Saturday night when we use our favorite medium, fire, to transform technology and reclaim it as an authentic tool of our imaginations. Please secure all mini-effigies and added art so it doesn’t blow away and create MOOP (Matter Out Of Place).
The Burn
On Saturday night at 11:30 PM, InterFusers will gather at Moon Meadow. A procession will form near Frog Bog and proceed to the main burn area where our creation will await. Fire spinners, drummers and other performance artists will build our energies to a fever pitch. Then we will animate our effigy with fire!
But the celebration doesn't end there! The energy we build will be dispersed through the InterFuse community as participation kicks into high gear everywhere, all night along.
There is no meaning assigned to the burn, save that all things are temporary. It's completely subjective. Each person comes away with their own personal meaning.

"Yes, dance. Dance and dream. Dream that you’re Mrs. Henry Jekyll of Harley Street, dancing with your own butler and six footmen. Dream that they’ve all turned into white mice and crawled into an eternal pumpkin."
